Funeral services were held Saturday, May 18, 1985, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Ansgar, for Wilmer Clarence Mueller, 88, of St. Ansgar, who died Thursday, May 16 at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar. The Rev. Norman Betke officiated and burial was in the Immanuel Cemetery.
Wilmer Clarence Mueller was born to William F. Mueller and Clara W. (Falk) Mueller in St. Ansgar, January 18, 1897. He was a life-long member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Ansgar. He was baptized on February 9, 1897 and confirmed on April 9, 1911. He served as an officer of the congregation, member of the choir, and a roll call member of the Lutheran Laymen's league.
He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army in World War I. Mr. Mueller was also active in civic affairs, serving a term as secretary and president of the Chamber of Commerce of St. Ansgar. In 1930, he served as a member of the Town Council.
On July 29, 1966, the Walter T. Enneberg Post of the American Legion honored him with a life membership card for srevice in various capacities which included fifteen years as Post Service Officer.
Following a brief hospitalization at Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis, Mr. Mueller returned to Good Samaritan Center of St. Ansgar, where he had been residing since early this spring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Bernice Tait of Mason City; nieces and nephews.
