Albert Joseph Wolf 1899-1952

Albert J. Wolf, 52, died this morning at his home, 503 Center, after a short illness. He was proprietor of the Wolf grocery. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Mayer funeral home. Mr. Wolf is survived by his wife and nine children.

Carpenter, Iowa - Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Anderson attended the funeral of the latter’s step-father Albert Wolf in Austin Saturday morning. He was a former Carpenter resident.

Albert J. Wolf was born April 27, 1899, at Stacyville, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Margaret Wolf. He resided at Chicago, Kilkenny, Minnesota, Stacyville, Carpenter, Iowa, and Osseo,Minnesota, and for the past nine years in Austin at 503 Center.

He attended Visitation academy at Stacyville. In 1932 he was united in marriage with Kathryn Wagner at Stacyville. Mr. Wolf was proprietor of a grocery store.

He died on February 13 after being ill about a month.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Sat. Feb. 16 at Queen of Angels church, Msgr. D.A. Cunningham officiating. The Mayer Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wolf is survived by his wife, Kathryn; nine children, James, Albert Jr., Robert, Geraldine and Mrs. Harvey Anderson of Carpenter, Iowa, Mrs. Arnold Stanek of Austin, Mrs. Leo Hemann of Stacyville, Mrs. Richard Holgate and Mrs. Elmer Klapperich of Austin; three sisters, Vera Wolf of Montgomery, Alabama, Stella Adams of Dyersville and Angela Hickey of Stacyville; and two brothers, Joseph Wolf of Austin and Ralph Wolf of Stacyville.

Out-of-town persons attending the funeral were Sgt. Elmer Klapperich, Camp Rucker, Alabama; John Schneider, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schneider and family, Mrs. Tony Brown, Adams; Mr. and Mrs. Val Wagner, Meyer Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Don Rawson, New Hampton Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wagner, New Haven Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bantiss and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Bissen, Johnsburg; Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Adams and Stanley Adams, Dyersville; Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Nolan, Waterloo; Mrs. Angela Hickey and son, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hemann, Stacyville; Phiilp Thome, St. Paul; and Vera Wolf, Montgomery, Alabama. Pallbearers were Fred Hemann, Arthur Wolf, Frank Mauer, Harold Lysne, Frank Placek and Joe Melch.

NOTE: Albert married Catherine Schneider, the daughter of Servatius Schneider and Mary (Muellenbach) Schneider. Catherine Schneider was first married to Bernard “Barney” Wagner who passed away October 1938 in Stacyville.
