Date: 8/29/2011 at 19:03:37Funeral services were held on Monday, September 16, 1985, for Merwin Henry Noble, 93, a retired farmer and lifelong resident of Riceville, at the United Methodist Church in Riceville. The Rev. H. Hawf, L. Carlson and G. Johnson officiated. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville.
Noble died Friday, Sept. 13, 1985 at an Elma, Iowa, nursing home.
Mr. Noble was born on December 30, 1891 in Riceville, the son of Joseph and Annie Haigh** Noble. On March 12, 1920, he married Ruth Lillian Lappin at Riceville. The couple farmed in the Riceville area for many years.
He is survived by one daughter, JoAnn Noble of Greenville, Illinois; six sons: Harlan of Riceville, Weston of Decorah, Russell of Rochester, Minnesota, Lowell of Jackson, Michigan, Joe of Kankakee, Illinois, and Dale of Honolulu, Hawaii; three sisters: Mrs. Ruby Dunton and Mrs. Pearl Potter both of Riceville, and Mrs. Meredith Vinson of Laguna Hills, California; one brother, Ross of Marshalltown; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Monday, September 16, 1985, at the United Methodist Church in Riceville, for Merwin Henry Noble, 93, of Riceville.
He died on Friday, September 13, 1985, at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Elma. The Rev. Lanny Carlson, Rev. Herschal Hawf and Rec. Gary Johnson officiated. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. Lindrtrom Funeral Home of Riceville was in charge of the arrangements.
He was born on December 30, 1891, the son of Joseph Henry and Annie Haigh Noble. He and Ruth Lillian Lappin were married on March 12, 1920, in Riceville. He was a lifelong Riceville area resident and farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife in December of 1983.
Survivors include six sons, Dale of Honolulu, Weston of Decorah, Russell of Rochester, Minnesota, Harlan of Riceville, Lowell of Jackson, Michigan, and Joe of Kankakee, Illinois; one daughter, JoAnn Noble of Greenville, Illinois; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ross Noble of Marshalltown; and three sisters: Mrs. Ruby Dunton of Riceville, Mrs. Pearl Potter of Riceville, and Mrs. Meredith Vinson of Laguna Hills, California.
