Funeral services were held on Monday, October 7, 1985, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven for Leonard Kirst, 73, formerly of New Haven. The Rev. John Carpender officiated and burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Mr. Kirst died on Friday, October 4, 1985, at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital.

He was born on June 8, 1912, the son of John and Anna (Meyer) Kirst at New Haven. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy in New Haven and Hamilton Business College in Mason City. He worked as a bookkeeper in Osage. Mr. Kirst was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven. He made his home with his brother until entering the White House Nursing Home in 1977.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Kirst is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Viola Hanna of Rockford, Mrs. Mary Lockwood of North Washington and Mrs. Harold (Veronica) Coonradt of Orchard; and a brother, Joseph of New Haven.
