Irling A. Groth

Funeral services were held on saturday, December 6, 1986 for Irling A. Groth, 76, formerly of St. Ansgar, Iowa, and now if Des Moines, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, West Des Moines, Iowa. Graveside services were held on Saturday afternoon in St. Ansgar with burial in the St. Ansgar City Cemetery. Mr. Groth died on Thursday, December 4, 1986 at a Des Moines hospital.

He was born on May 5, 1910 in St. Ansgar, to Anderson and Inga Eidahl Groth. On June 30, 1934, he was united in marriage to Lucille Gerlach.

Mr. Groth was an agency department executive with Equitable Life Insurance Co. of Iowa and retired in 1975 from that position.

He attended schools in St. Ansgar, graduated from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, and was a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Groth was a member of Westminster Church, American Legion Post 374 of Des Moines, and the Golden K Kiwanis Club, Des Moines. He was past president of the Quarter Century Club with Equitable Life Insurance Company. He was also active in establishing Connie Mack baseball league for young boys.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille of Des Moines; two sons, Phillip of Pella and David of Littleton, Colorado; four grandchildren and one brother, Alton of Des Moines.
