Joe Vance died following illness

A former Little Cedar man, Joseph Vance, 65, died at his home in Pasadena, California, March 9, as the result of a heart attack.

Joseph Nelson Vance was born May 22, 1915, in Slope County, North Dakota, the son of Otho and Eliza Marshall Vance. As a young child he came with his parents to the Little Cedar area, where he grew to manhood.

His marriage to Dorothy Sonberg took place November 16, 1949. He and his wife made their home on the family farm until 1971, when they retired and moved to Pasadena.

Surviving are his wife Dorothy; four sons, John, Roger and Melvin of Osage, and Paul of Pasadena; two granddaughters; one brother, Alex Vance of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Francis Beinhauer of Pasadena and Mrs. Margaret Young of Arcadia, California; nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother Jim and two sisters, Mary and Grace.
