DOCKUM, GRAVES, TOWNSEND, SNIPP

Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 10, 1985, at the Otranto Community Church for Ernest Dockum, 87, of St. Ansgar. Rev. H. Grossoehme officiated, and burial was in the Woodbury Cemetery of rural Lyle, Minnesota. Mr. Dockum died on Wednesday, August 7, 1985, at his home.

Ernest Mark Dockum was born in Mansfield, Illinois, on November 3, 1897, the son of Harry and Rosie (Townsend) Dockum.

Her was married to Ruby Graves in Austin, Minnesota, and was employed there by the railroad company. Later, he moved to Des Moines where he was first and later employed the Ford Motor Company and then drove a taxi cab for the city of Des Moines. Two children were born from this union, Dorothy Kittleson of Osage and Jeannette Kittleson of Portland, Oregon.

After his wife's death in 1924, he married Julia Snipp. To this union were born three sons, Jack of Chicopee, Mass., Donald of Sweet Home, Oregon, and Jerry of Santa Barbara, Calif.

He farmed for many years in the Meltonville area and recently moved to St. Ansgar. He was a member of the Otranto Community Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife, Ruby; three brothers and one sister.

Survivors are his wife, Julia; two daughters; three sons; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Ernest Dockum Funeral

Funeral services for Ernest Dockum, 87, longtime resident of this area, who died at his home in St. Ansgar August 7, were held August 10 at the Otranto Community church with the Rev. Howard Grossoehme officiating.

Ernest Mark Dockum was born in Mansfield, Ill. November 3, 1897, the son of Harry and Rosie (Townsend) Dockum. He married Ruby Graves in Austin, Minn, where he was employed by the railroad company. After his wife's death in 1924 he married Julia Shipp. Three sons were borm to them: Jack of Chicopee, Mass., Donald of Sweet-Home, Ore. and Jerry of Santa Barbara, Calif.

Mr. Dockum farmed for many years in the Meltonville area, and after his retirement in 1972 continued to live on the farm, only recently moving to St. Ansgar. He was a member of the Otranto Community church.

He is survived by his wife, Julia; two daughters and three sons; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Burial was in Woodbury cemetery, rural Lyle, with Rev. Grossoehme in charge of committal services.
