Funeral services for Pearl Hastings of Osage, were held on Saturday, August 17, 1985, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. Leon Connolly of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Osage and Rev. Dunkle of Lourdes officiated at the service. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. She died on Tuesday, August 13, 1985.
Pearl K. Hastings was born on January 18, 1897 at McIntire, the daughter of braney and May Dillon. She attended the McIntire school and the Cedar Valley Seminary in Osage. In 1915 she was united in marriage to Michael Hastings and lived in Chicago, Illinois, while Michael attended the Chicago Veterinary College. They then moved back to McIntire. Most of her life was spent on a farm and her interest in the farmer and farming never ceased.
In 1973 she was one of 68 families in Mitchell county to be awarded a certificate for family frming over 50 years.
She was employed by Fidelity Life Insurance for 40 years.
In 1974 she moved to Alta Vista and lived there for ten years. She moved back to Osage in 1984 when her health began to fail.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Marcella Parr and sons, Robert of Elma and Donald of Osage; one sister, Hazel Farrell of Mason City and two brothers, Earl Dillon of Osage and Norbert Dillon of Riceville; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents and one grandson.
