OSAGE MAN IS KILLED WHEN CAR AND TRAIN COLLIDE AT OTTUMWA

Osage – Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at the Shelledy Funeral Home for Orville McIlnay, 28, killed early Sunday morning at Ottumwa when his auto was struck by a Burlington fast mail train. The Rev. J. D. Kern of the Osage Baptist Church will conduct last rites.
Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.

McIlnay, employed as a car painter by a Chevrolet company at Ottumwa the past two years, was driving to his Ottumwa residence when his car sped directly into the pilot of the engine. Members of the train crew said they saw McIlnay just before the engine hit the car.

The Osage man was born January 4, 1909 at Traer, and a year later his parents and the family moved to Osage. McIlnay went to work at Waverly in 1934, and after a year there went to Ottumwa to work.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. K. McIlnay; three sisters, Ruth of Chicago, and Mary and Mildred at home.
