Osage – Funeral rites were here Monday for Mrs. Paul Klar, who died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lynn Morse at Charles City. She had undergone major surgery in June for malignant condition and never recovered.

She was born in Germany as Katherine Walters. At the age of 15 she came to America with an uncle, following the death of her parents. She settled in Benton County and married in 1894 to Paul Klar at Dysart.

The established their first home there, and lived there until 1913, when they came to a farm near Osage. They lived there for the next seven years, then came to Osage where they lived until 1947. They then went to live with Mrs. Lynn Morse, a daughter at Charles City.

She leaves her husband, who is 86, two daughters; Mrs. Robert Bower, Mitchell; and Mrs. Lynn Morse, Charles City; two sons, Martin of Osage; and John, of Springfield, Oregon; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one brother, Martin, Chicago. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, all in Germany.

KLAR RITES SET

Osage – Funeral services for Mrs. Paul Klar, 77, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home. She died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lynn Morse, at Charles City.

Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Robert Bower, of Mitchell, and Mrs. Morse of Charles City, and two sons, Martin, Osage, and John, of Springfield, Ore.
