Mrs. Clara Voaklander
Dies; Funeral Friday
At Little CedarFuneral servies were held at Little Cedar Friday afternoon for Mrs. Clara Voaklander, 85, who died last Monday at Aransas Pass, Texas, where she had spent the winter The Rev. Richard Pearson was in charge of the services in the Little Cedar Methodist churh, with burial in the cemetery there.
Clara Elizabeth Watt was born October 22, 1871, in Richland Center, Wis., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Watt. After completing her education she taught school for one year. She was married to Frank A. Voaklander December 6, 1891, and they established their home on the home farm of his parents south of Little Cedar. They moved to a new home east of the family homestead in 1932.
After the death of her husband in 1940, Mrs. Voaklander continued to live on the family farm with her son Ernest. They spent their winters either in California or Texas, returning to the farm for the summer months.
Mrs. Voaklander was a member of the Little Cedar Methodist church and was the last living charter member of the Little Cedar Ladies Aid Society. She was presented a life membership pin by that organization two years ago.
She is survived by her son, Ernest; a daughter, Mrs. Albert Hultman of Little Cedar; two grandchildren, Lawrence Hultman and Mrs. Vinus Penney of Little Cedar; four great-grandchildren, a brother, Carl Watt of Richland Center; and four sisters: Mrs. William Voaklander of Osage, Mrs. Chet Spry of Nellsville, Wisconsin, Mrs. Mansel Ferguson of Viroqua, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Verna Ammerman of Phoenix, Airzona,as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Fern; three brothers and one sister.
