David Parr's Funeral
Is Held Here Monday

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for D. R. Parr, 70, of Osage, Iowa, who died of a heart attack at his home probably early Friday morning. He was found in his bed by his son Charles Parr, Friday afternoon. The Rev. Percy Burns pastor of the Baptist church in Riceville was in charge of the services at the Champion Funeral Home. Burial was in Wayne cemetery at McIntire.

David Ronald Parr was born near Russell, Iowa, April 10, 1887, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Beauford Andrew Parr. He attended the schools at Russell and was baptised in the United Brethern church there at an early age. His marriage to Ada L. Griffin took place at Bailey December 18, 1913.

Mr. Parr was a bridge foreman, and for a time the family lived at Ottumwa. Later, working as an interior decorator, they lived in Waterloo. In 1942 they moved to Hayward, Calif., and in the fall of 1948, they returned to Osage. Moving to Riceville in 1951. Mr. Parr remained there until the the death of his wife, Ada, on April 10, 1956. Since that time he has lived in Osage near his son Charles.

Surviving are his sons, Charles of Osage, and Douglas of Hayward, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. C.D. Rice of Osage; four grandchildren, two brothers, Jim of Long Beach, and Ernie of Russell; and two sisters, Mrs. Jane Long and Laura of Russell.

David's tombstone at Wayne Cemetery says "David R. 1887-1957". It is believed that the date on the transcription above is in error, and that he really did die in 1957, not 1956.
