Saturday Afternoon
For Mrs. Francis MillsFuneral services were held Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Francis Mills, 56, who died in a hospital in Bellingham, Washington, after an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Mills was a daughter of Mrs. Guy Alchon and lived in Mitchell county until after her marriage.
The Rev. Homer Doak, pastor of the Congregational church in Osage, was in charge of the services at the Champion Funeral Home here, with burial in the Osage cemetery.
Cora Maude Elizabeth Martin was born in Mitchell, April 3, 1900, spending most of her childhood in this vicinity, and attending Osage high school. She was married to Francis A. Mills July 29, 1917 in Charles City. One son Vernon was born in 1918, and died in 1929. They lived in various parts of Iowa until moving to Bellingham in 1941.
Mrs. Mills was a member of the Baptist church in Waverly, and belonged to the Eastern Star. After moving to Washington, she was affiliated with the Geneva Community church at the first and was active in organizations of the church.
She is survived by her husband, Francis, a son Robert, and two grandsons, all of Bellingham, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alchon of Osage, a brother, Bernard and two nephews of Highland Park, Illinois, and several cousins.
