LORENZEN, Anna Sophia (Schlott) 1847-1918

Mrs. Anna Sophia Lorenzen was born in Schleswig-Holstein, March 22, 1847 and died at St. Ansgar, Iowa, September 9, 1918. Her maiden name was Anna Sophia Schlott. She was baptized in infancy, confirmed in the Lutheran church in 1861.

She was married to Peter Lorenzen April 6th, 1873. This union was blessed with seven children all of whom survive. The children are: N.E. Lorenzen, St. Ansgar; Peter Lorenzen Jr., New York Mills, Minn.; Martin H. Lorenzen, St. Ansgar; Johannes F. Lorenzen, Cedar Falls, Iowa; Emma Lorenzen, St. Ansgar; Wm. Lorenzen, who is at present in the firing line with the U.S. Army in France; Louis A. Lorenzen also in the army at Camp Gordon, Ga. Louis was fortunate to get a ten day's furlough and was at her bedside at the time of her death.

There are also six grandchildren. Mrs. Lorenzen has one sister, Mrs. Johannes Miller, St. Ansgar.

Mrs. Lorenzen's illness commenced some time ago and she failed rapidly the last three months, but was in bed only about two weeks. The cause of her death being chronic pancreatites. During the early hours of Monday morning she quietly slept away without a struggle, after telling her relatives that she prayed to and trusted in Jesus her Savior.

The funeral services were held at the N.L. church Wednesday, September 11, 1918 and the remains laid to rest in the east cemetery.
