Funeral services were held Thursday, March 4, for Andrew Gerhardt William Gemaehlich, age 86, who died Tuesday, March 2, 1982, at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. The services were held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Pastor Joseph Nesheim and Pastor Harold Larson officiating. Champion Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements and burial was in the Osage Cemetery.
Andrew Gerhardt William Gemaehlich, the son of Reverend and John and Mathilda Gemaehlich was born on October 10, 1895 in Kensington, Kansas.
He was baptized at the Lutheran church in Kensington and confirmed at the Lutheran church in Bessie, Oklahoma.
He was united in marriage to Edith Behrends on February 7, 1915 at Sterling, Nebraska. They lived in Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska before coming to Mitchell County in 1923. He moved to Osage in 1929. Andrew worked as a carpenter and contractor in this area and others. During World War II, he did government construction work.
He is survived by his wife, Edith, and six children, Mrs. Darrell Nosser, (Erma) of Fort Bragg, California; Mrs. Arnold Semm, (Alberta) of Oakley, California; Mrs. Truman Meyers, (Margaret) of Fort Bragg, California; Mrs. Harley May, (Victoria) of Beloit, Wisconsin; Mrs. Dean Adams, (Leolla) of Franklin, Wisconsin; and one son Duane of LaGrande, Oregon; one sister, Hattie Lorenz of Osage; three brothers, Rudolph of Osage; John of Medford, Oregon; and Bert of Reseda, California; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and one grandson.
