MRS. SUSAN THOMPSON DIES AT WEST MITCHELLMitchell – Mrs. Susan Thompson, 83, died at her home in West Mitchell at 9 o’clock Tuesday morning following a short illness.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Germany in 1860 and came to this country when a young woman and was married soon after to Chris Thompson of Mitchell. She made her home in and around Mitchell since.
Eight children were born, two of whom died in infancy. A son, Carl, died in 1922 and a daughter, Mamie Thompson died in 1939. Her husband also preceded her in death a few years ago.
Surviving are three sons Thomas of West Mitchell; Andy of McCallsburg; Chris of Nevada; and a daughter; Mrs. Alfred (Dora) Messerlie of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

#2:THOMPSON RITES HELD
Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Thompson were held Friday afternoon with the Rev. Harvey Risse in charge. Burial was in the family lot at Oak Grove Cemetery, Mitchell.
Those who came from away to attend were Mr. and Mrs. Andy Thompson of McCallsburg; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Thompson of Nevada; Earl Thompson from the naval training station at Ames; and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Nelson of Canton, Minn.

DIES, ILL SHORT TIMEMrs. Anna Thompson, 83, died at her home at Mitchell, at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 8, after a short illness.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and came to America when a young woman. She was married soon after to Chris Thompson of Mitchell.
She has lived in Mitchell and in that vicinity since.
Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, two of whom died in infancy. A son, Carl lost his life by drowning in the Cedar River in 1922, and a daughter, Mayme, passed away in 1939. Her husband died a number of years ago.
Surviving are her sons, Thomas, of Mitchell, who lived next door to his mother; Andy of McCallsburg, and Chris of Nevada, and a daughter, Mrs. Alfred Messerlie, of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Funeral service will beheld this afternoon, Thursday, at the Champion Funeral Home with H.F. Risse in charge of the services. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery, Mitchell.
