Funeral services were held March 13, for Stanley Novak, 87, of Osage, who passed away at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital March 11. Pastors Larsen and Nesheim officiated at the rites which were held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage. Champion Funeral Home was in charge and interment was in the Osage Cemetery. Graveside rites were performed by the American Legion Memorial Squad Post 278.
Stanley Novak was born May 23, 1914 in Burr Oak Township to Joseph and Frances Novak. He attended school in Mitchell and married Edith Nelson in 1937.
He served in World War II and was active in the American Legion Post No. 278 as a past Commander and as a member of the Memorial Squad Post. He was also a member of the National Rural Letter Carrier's Association and the Mitchell County Letter Carriers Association. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage. Mr. Novak was a mail carrier and retired in 1974.
He was preceded in death by one son, his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Edith; two sons: Frederick of Tucson, Arizona, and Ronald of Osage; three grandchildren: Mrs. Michael Ross of Byron, Minnesota, Michael Novak, Tucson, and Tammy Novak of Osage; one brother: Louis Novak of Grafton and nieces and nephews.
