RITES PENDING FOR MRS. MAE CROOKS

Nashua – Mrs. Mae Crooks, 67, died Tuesday at her home here following a long illness. Funeral services are pending at the Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home.

Surviving are three daughters; Mrs. Lawrence Litterer, Nashua; Mrs. Ray Kolesar, Glen Lake, Minn.; Mrs. Gus Lubbert, Charles City; two sons, Merle, Charles City; Don, Minneapolis; nine grandchildren; three sisters; Mrs. Olga Thorsen; Mrs. Alice Shoger; and Miss Josephine Havig; all of Osage; two brothers; Alfred Havig, Osage; and Chester Havig, Hanpton.

Mae Olive Havig was born April 2, 1893 in Washington, the daughter of Ole and Bertha (Erickson) Havig. She married Harry Chesley Crooks, the son of Henry Crooks and Ida (Potter) Crooks.

The Ole Havig family children were born in Iowa, Minnesota and Washington. Her father worked in the pineries in Wisconsin and Minnesota. He lived in Washington State for a few years and lived in St. Ansgar, Iowa. He homesteaded in South Dakota, then in 1911 moved to Osage, Iowa. He was a carpenter by trade and worked with three sons for 17 years.
