H. A. PERCIVAL DROPS DEAD
Without Warning, Well-Known Osage Citizen Falls, Victim of Heart Trouble Thursday
A considerable shock was occasioned Thursday evening when the news spread over the city that H. A. Percival, a well-known old resident here, fell a victim to heart trouble in the early evening.
Mr. Percival had returned from a trip into the country shortly before 6 o'clock, and had eaten a hearty supper. After supper he went down town to mail a letter, and had returned. As he reached the house, Charles Schefner, who had just returned from a visit, came over to call on him.
Mr. Percival stepped into a back room to remove his outer clothing, and, returning to the living room, shook hands with his neighbor, and, suddenly dropped to the floor. He gasped a couple of times and was dead.
Deceased had not been feeling in the best of condition for several days, having been bothered with shortness of breath, but had been able to be about his work.
The funeral was held from the residence Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. A.T. Bishop officiating and burial in Osage Cemetery. Mr. Percival leaves behind Mrs. Percival, two sons and a daughter, Frank E. Percival, one son is the director of music in the high school in Sioux City, the daughter, Mrs. H.C. Weigert, resides in Chicago, the other son, B. C. Percival, is purchasing agent for the McGraer Electric Company of Sioux City, Iowa. There are five sisters living, Mrs. Abram Pyle, of Webster City; Mrs. Chester Wilson, of Hurdsfield, N. D.; Mrs. Henry Riley, of Mitchell S. D; Mrs. Frank Miller, of Spokane Wash., and Mrs. Charles Benshoq, of Hurdsfield, N. D.
The out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were Mrs. A. P. Mason, a union sister to Mrs. Percival, Mrs. Pyle; Mrs. Riley, Jessie Riley, a niece, of Mitchell S. D. The children of Mr. Percival also were there, B.C. Percival bringing with him his 3-year-old-son, Robert.
Henry Allen Percival was born Oct. 24, 1849, at Fayette, Lafette County, Wis. At an early age he came, with the family to Cottage, Hardin County, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Anna Stewart, also of Cottage. He resided for many years at Iowa Falls, Iowa, moving from there to Osage in the winter of 1896, when he entered the employ of the S. F. Baker medicine company of Keokuk.
