Robert Allan White 1917-2009

NEW HAMPTON - Robert A. White, 91, of New Hampton, died Thursday, April 23, at New Hampton Care Center.

Robert Allan was born Oct. 5, 1917, in Riceville, son of Oliver S. and Jeannie M. Warburton White. He married Ione Ruth Gager on June 15, 1941, in New Hampton. She died Feb. 17, 1999.

Mr. White graduated from Riceville High School in 1935 and served as a sergeant for the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He had worked for Erdahls Hatchery in Cresco, Gager & White Service Station and C&H Farm Service, both in New Hampton, and Rath Packing Co. in Waterloo. He was a member of Congregational United Church of Christ, New Hampton.

Survived by: a daughter, Roberta (Jon) Strickland of Montgomery, Ala.; a son, Thomas (Deb) of Shell Rock; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Marian Jo Brannan of New Hampton.

Preceded in death by: two sisters, Beulah White and Dorothy Marn.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Congregational Church of Christ, New Hampton, with burial at 1 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery, Riceville. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
