Death of Stanton Hall

The death of Stanton Hall last Friday, removes another of those who have lived beyond their three score and ten. He was born in Oneida County, New York, April 6, 1820, and died in Osage, Iowa, November 8, 1895, aged seventy-five years, eight months and two days.

In 1848, he was united in marriage with Miss Hellen Allison. Five children, all of whom survive, were born to bless their home. In 1887, the home was broken by the death of the mother. Forty-seven years have passed since the day of their wedding and this is but the second time the death has come to claim one of its members.

In 1860, Mr. Hall moved with his family to Illinois, and in 1869 came to Mitchell County Iowa. He had lived a quiet, modest, upright life during all these years, and thus established himself in the estimation of his neighbors as a good man. For some four years past, he had been township trustee and overseer of the poor in this city and township, and they always found him a kind and helpful friend. For some three months, he has been slowly declining in health. About three weeks ago he took his bed, and from that time he gradually grew weaker, until life ebbed itself away.

The funeral services were conducted from the home, Saturday afternoon, by Reverend E. J. Lockwood assisted by Reverend Dr. Gist.
