HEART ATTACK FATAL TO JOE P. RETTERATHFuneral services were held in Visitation Catholic Church, Monday, June 28, for Joseph P. Retterath, with the Rev. John J. A. Birschbach celebrating the Requiem Mass. Burial was in the Visitation cemetery.
Mr. Retterath died at his home last Thursday afternoon June 22, at the age of 55.
Joseph Peter Retterath was born May 18, 1912 to Michael and Rosa Wagner Retterath at Spring Grove, Ill. He spent most of his life in the Stacyville vicinity.He was married to Effie Buringer at Dexter, Minnesota March 5, 1935, where he operated a garage. The family moved to Stacyville in 1943 and has been engaged in garage and blacksmith work and maintaining sizeable apiaries for the production and sales of honey.
He is survived by his wife, Effie; five sons, Mike and John of Minneapolis; Joe, Jr., of Des Moines; Jim of Austin, Minn.; and Eugene at home; six daughters, Mrs. Clayton (Rosann) Meyer of Austin; Phyllis of Mason City; Mrs. Delphin (Beverly) Theobald, Stacyville; Mrs. Kenneth (Mary) Crooks of Charles City; Mrs. Alden (Dorothy) Crooks of Rudd; and Mrs ? (Martha) Scorthe??(can’t read his name) Of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Fred of Austin; and Barney of Stacyville; two sisters; Mrs. Ralph (Nellie) Ehler of Sheperd, Mich.; and Mrs. Robert (Martha) Fanning of Cincinatti, Ohio and 21 grandchildren.
