BERTISS BRYANT JOHNSON
Bertiss Bryant Johnson passed away at his home in McIntire, Iowa, on Friday, May 25, 1945, at the age of 66 years.
Mr. Johnson was born November 12, 1878 at Lenora, Minnesota. His early childhood was spent in Dakota and Minnesota, but at the age of 13 he moved with his parents to McIntire where he attended the public schools.
He was married in 1901 to Mayme Fortney; five children were born to this union.
His wife passed away on May 30, 1917, and also two children preceded him in death.
On February 18, 1918, he married Laura Westendorf; one son was born to them.
In 1902 he began work as a telegrapher for the Chicago Great Western and continued until illness forced him to retire in November 1944.
He was a councilman and president of the local school board for many years.
He is survived by his wife; his aged mother; two daughters, Mrs. Nina Eichmeier of Waterloo and Mrs. Josephine Stuckey of Osage; and two sons, Pfc, Beryl F. Johnson in the Philippines, and Pfc. Keith W. Johnson in Germany.
