Found Dead at
County HomeOSAGE, IOWA — Oliver Makepeace, 67 was found dead about 5:30 Monday afternoon at the Mitchell County Farm. Death probably occurred about 3:30 p.m.
Tentative funeral rites are set for Friday at 2 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage. Burial will be in the Little Cedar Cemetery.
Makepeace was born near Castalia, July 7, 1888, to Charles and Ella Makepeace. He came to Little Cedar with his parents while a small child.
He was in the U.S. Marines in World War I, when he became a shell shock victim.
Survivors include three sisters: Mrs. Addie Balsley, Osage; Mrs. Gladys Penney, Little Cedar and Mrs. Carl Canfield, Davenport, Washington; and a brother, Otis Makepeace, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
