St. Ansgar – Funeral services for Mrs. Hugh Carr, who died Saturday, were held at the Methodist Church Monday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Rollin G. Oswald officiating.Mrs. Carr was born Pearl Elizabeth Sutton, December 28 1883, near Clark, S. D., where the Sutton family had gone from Mason City.
The family returned to Iowa in 1890 and settled in Algona where Mrs. Carr grew to young womanhood. She received her education in the Algona grade and high schools, and at the Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. After teaching a year in the New Providence schools she taught in her home city, Algona.
On June 20, 1907, she was married to Hugh M. Carr, also of Algona, at the home of her parents, Joseph L and Laura Sutton.
Mrs. Carr is survived by her husband and their five children; Mrs. Kathryn Wilsterman of St. Peter, Minn.; Dale of Albert Lea, Minn.; John W of Des Moines; Mrs. Elizabeth Williams of Fort Pierce, Fla.; Mrs. Patricia Martin of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers; J. J. Sutton of Ortonville, Minn., and Harvey H. Sutton of Tacoma, Wash.; one sister, Miss Maude E. Sutton, recently of Washington, D. C.; and 19 grandchildren.
The Carrs have been residents of St. Ansgar for the past five years. Mrs. Carr had been a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. Burial was in the Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery, Albert Lea, Minn., with Mr. Oswald in charge of the committal service.
