Mrs. Robert Olson
Funeral rites were held Tuesday for an Osage woman, Mrs. Robert O. Olson (Gerry), 57, who died at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital February 26, following a long illness with a malignancy.
The Reverend Joseph Nesheim and the Reverend Harold Larson, pastors, were in charge of the rites at out Savior's Lutheran Church and burial was in the Osage Cemetery where military rites were conducted by the Honor Guard of Veterans of Foreign wars Post 7920. Arrangements were by C. R. Champion and Sons.
A rite for deceased members was conducted Sunday afternoon at Champion Funeral Home by members of the Auxiliary to VFW Post 7920.
Geraldine Kari Uglum was born in New Hampton, Iowa, on August 26, 1924, the daughter of Chris and Carrie Otteson Uglum. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Hampton and was graduated from high school in 1942. In 1944 she entered the WAVES, the women's branch of the United States Navy, serving until December, 1945.
Robert O. Olson and Gerry were untied in marriage April 28, 1946, at the Little Brown Church near Nashua. They established their home in Osage. She was employed for 10 years by the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company here and later was engaged by local nursing homes.
Mrs. Olson was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and was a member of Our Savior's choir. She was a member of the Auxiliary VFW Post 7920, the Auxiliary to American Legion Post 278, and had been active in Sweet Adelines.
Preceding her in death were one daughter, Peggy Ann, her parents, her step-father, Andrew Murray, and two brothers, George and Art.
Surviving are her husband Robert of Osage; three sons, David of Seattle, Washington, Dick of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Ronald of Northwood; two daughters, Mrs. Jane Hagedorn of Mason City and Mrs. Allen Fredrichs (Rose Mary) of Northwood; five grandchildren and one brother, Harold Uglum of New Hampton
