Rites held for Robert Prichard

Funeral services for Robert J. Pritchard, 69, operator of the Coast to Coast Store in Osage, were Saturday, January 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage.

He died Wednesday, January 4 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. The Reverend Jacob Roth officiated at the service with burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Osage. Champion Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Robert J. Pritchard was born in Garner on December 9, 1914, the son of Walter Sherman and Jeanne Finch Pritchard. He graduated from Garner High School and attended the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

He was united in marriage to Winifred Hampel on October 10, 1938 in Garner. They farmed for 13 years in the Garner, Clear Lake and Belmond areas and after that operated a hotel in Wisconsin. In 1961 they moved to Osage where they began operating the Coast to Coast Store.

He was a former member of the Osage City Council board. He was President of the local SCORE chapter and a director of the Pioneer Federal Savings and Loan Association, Osage. He was also a member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus and a 22-year member of the Osage Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife, Winifred; one daughter, Mrs. Linda Campbell of Osage; one son, Michael of Osage; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. S. J. (Marian) Oberhauser of Belmond and Mrs. R. G. (Betty) Grobaty of Laguna, California, and three brothers, Paul of Mason City, W. S. of Long Beach, California, and Harry of Dayton, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John and a sister, Kathryn.
