Services were Feb. 1, 2000 for Jeanne B. Rizk, 79, of Sioux City at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City. The Rev. Douglas Klein officiated with burial in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mrs. Rizk died Jan. 28, 2000 at Sunrise Manor Retirement Community in Sioux City.
Mrs. Rizk was born Jan. 2, 1921, in Burr Oak, Mitchell Co., Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Veneta (Counsell) Beckner. She grew up in Clear Lake and graduated from Clear Lake High School. She graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in dietetics. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority.
She married Joseph E. Rizk Jan. 28, 1943, in Clear Lake. The couple lived in San Francisco, Calif. and Schenectady, N.Y. They came to Sioux City in 1946, where they went into the family business, Inter State Oil Company, later known as Inter State Auto Supply.
She had also worked for Massachusetts General Hospital, planning all patient meals, and for Stanford University Hospital.
She was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Confraternity, Birthright of Sioux City and past president of St. Joseph Auxiliary. She was also a founding member and past president of PEO Chapter LD.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Robert C. Rizk of Santa Paula, Calif., Thomas J. and his wife, Janet Rizk of Carpinteria, Calif., and Dr. William and his wife, Pam Rizk of Sioux City; three daughters, Susan Haggar of Omaha, Neb., Joanie and her husband, Patrick Kuehl of Sioux City, and Julie Jennerjahn of Taos, N.M.; a sister and her husband, Becky and Frank "Rusty" Flores of Ida Grove; 15 grandchildren; and 21 nieces and nephews.
