Friederike Wilhelmine Tabbert was born November 22, 1860 in Gross Schlatikow Prov. Pommerania, Germany as the youngest child of Wilhelm P. Pahl and Dorothea nee Feldt. In her early days of infancy she was given to the Lord and taken into His church by the holy sacrament of baptism.

After having reached the age of six years she attended the village school until February, 1870, when, with her parents, two brothers and one sister, she emigrated to America. Shortly after their arrival in this country the family settled in Mitchell County, Iowa. Here the deceased received religious instruction and on April 13, 1873, she was confirmed by Pastor Gyr. As soon as grown into girlhood she cared for herself and did many a hard work on the farm.

On October 11, 1894, she was married to Wilhelm Tabbert. This union was blessed with four children, three boys and one girl, named: Albert, Laurence, Otto and Anna, who today mourn for the loss of a dear mother.

Many a burden God had laid upon His child. In 1910 Mrs. Tabbert had to undergo different operations putting her in such a condition that she earnestly thought of her end. Ten years later she was left a widow by the death of her husband.

Not being very strong for years, her health began to fail entirely in August, 1923. Different physicians were consulted. In December she went to Waverly, hoping to find relief there, but they also had to send her home with out any help. From then on her suffering increased from day to day. Very little could be done for her alleviation during four months of a very weary and painful sickness. Many a time the sufferer sighed: O Lord, take away my life; deliver me from this vale of sorrow. The Lord finally answered her prayer in granting His in tribulation tired child a peaceful end last Thursday, April 24.

Besides her four children the deceased leaves one brother, one sister, two step-children and a great number of other relatives and of friends.

She reached the age of 63 years, 5 months and 2 days.

Funeral services were held at the Rock Creek St. John Lutheran church on Sunday afternoon, April 27, and her remains were laid to rest at the cemetery of that congregation. Those acting as pallbearers were Henry Wilde, W.F. Kronemann, Emil Bublitz, Ed Rosenberg, W.F. Steinberg and W. Eske.

After four months of suffering Mrs. William Tabbert died at her home in Rock Creek** Township, and was buried Sunday in the cemetery at that place.

Her trouble had been cancer of the stomach. In December she was taken to Waverly, and the doctors ascertained that the end was not far off. She had lived for many years on the farm in Rock Creek and since the death of her husband has operated the place with the assistance of her children.

Mrs. Tabbert is survived by three sons, Lawrence, Otto and Albert, and a daughter, Annie. All are at home with the exception of Albert who is married.

NOTE:
**The township is really Rock township, not Rock Creek township. Rock twp. was often referred to as Rock Creek.

Her tombstone says she died on (Thursday) April 24th, not the 19th as the above obituary states.
