OSAGE, IOWA - Walter Alan Saline, age 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. H. Saline, of Osage, died at the parental home at noon Tuesday following an illness of six months duration, which was caused by a brain tumor. He had previously submitted to surgery.
He was born July 31, 1922, at Spencer, Iowa when 15 he came with his parents to Osage, where his father became the owner of the Sani-Dairy.
He entered the army air corps and became first lieutenant, serving three and a half years as a B-24 pilot in the European theater of war. He was awarded the air medal, the distinguished Flying Cross and the three oak leaf clusters. Following his return from overseas duty he served as instructor in instrument flying, at Bryan, Texas.
He received his honorable discharge in November, 1945, and returned to Osage, to become a partner with his father, in operating the Sani-Dairy.
He was a member of the American Legion, Officers Reserve, the Masonic Lodge and took an active part in the furthering of Boy Scout activities in Osage. He served as Scoutmaster of Troop number 68 until failing health forced him to give up his duties.

SALINE RITES FRIDAY
OSAGE, IOWA — Funeral rites for Walter A. Saline, Osage youth who died here Tuesday in his home, will be Friday at 2 p m. in First Baptist Church, with Reverend Paul Johnson, Oregon, Illinois, pastor, in charge. Military services will be at the grave in Osage Cemetery.
