Stephen J. Freund 1907-2004

Stephen J. Freund, 96, of Adams died Friday, May 21, 2004 at Adams Health Care Center.
He was born Nov. 19, 1907 in Meyer, Iowa to John and Mary (Ginsterblum) Freund.

He was married to Magdalen (Maggie) Mullenbach on June 28, 1938 at Johnsburg, Minn. They resided in Adams where Stephen owned and operated an auto repair business.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Adams Fire Department, the Knights of Columbus and the Adams Commerical Club. He was an avid reader and woodworker.

Stephen was preceded in death by his wife Maggie, his sisters Catherine and Margaret and brother Lawrence.

He is survived by sons Kenneth (Nancy) Freund of Galatin, Tenn., Dennis (Judy) Freund of Lake Forest, Calif.; Daughters Mary (William) Colter II of Scottsdale, Ariz., Judy (Kevin) Underdahl of Idyllwild, Calif., Rita (Gene) Miller of LeRoy, Minn.; brothers Joe (Kathleen) Freund of Osage, Iowa; Ozzie (Grace) Freund of Denton, N.C.; sister-in-law Christina Freund of Stacyville, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 24, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams with Father James Seitz officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Adams.

Visitation will be held at the Adams Funeral Home on Sunday 4-8 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. There will be a 7 p.m. prayer service on Sunday evening. Organist will be Helen King.

Casket bearers will be Jeff Underdahl, Steve Freund, Lori Miller-Beach, Kari Miller, Dana Kinder, Jennie Anderson, Eric Freund, Lisa Krapf, Stephen Freund, John Kolter and William Kolter III.
