Pearl Aspel, the eldest child of James and Ella Shrode Aspel was born October 18th, 1893 in Oakdale Township, Howard County near McIntire, Iowa.
Pearl moved with her parents to a farm in Jenkins Township west of McIntire. She attended and graduated from the High School there. After taking a teachers course at Cedar Falls she taught school several years.
Pearl was a member of the Methodist Church in McIntire, also a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service and of the Women's Club.
Pearl lived with her brother near McIntire. They were in a car accident December 31st and she was taken to the Osage Memorial Hospital where she remained until her death on March 6, 1965.
Pearl will be missed by her many relatives and friends. She leaves two sisters; Vernice (Mrs. Irvin Graff) of Greenville, Illinois; Barbara (Mrs. Albert Ice) of Washington, Indiana; two brothers: Gaylord of LeRoy, Minnesota and Kenneth of McIntire, Iowa. Her parents and a brother Harold have preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 10th at the McIntire Methodist Church with Rev. Stanley Ballard officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery at Riceville, iowa. Casket bearers were: Kersey Byrd, Roy Richardson, Perry Carter, John Grace, Grant Grace, and Arthur Kesten. The Martz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
