EUGENE SHRODE RITES FRIDAY
Riceville, Iowa – Eugene Shrode, 89, died Tuesday at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, Osage, Iowa.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church, Riceville. A family service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage.
Born and reared in Riceville, he operated a livery barn here and later a hatchery. He was married to Nancy Elwell in 1912.
Surviving are his wife; four daughters: Mrs. Wilbur Danforth, Osage; Mrs. Robert Kopf, Waterloo; Mrs. H. B. Gildersleeve, Oregon; Mrs. Olan Thornburg, Council Bluffs; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles, Riceville.

Eugene Shrode was born August 8, 1871, in Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of Conrad and Barbara (Workman) Shrode. He married Nancy Elwell, the daughter of Lorenzo and Martha (Peavey) Elwell.
