RITES HELD FOR H.H. KNUDSON, 84, PIONEER RESIDENT
Funeral services for Hans Knudson, 84, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. Olaf A. Langehough officiating.
Mr. Knudson died Sunday morning, following a stroke.
Hans H. Knudson was born October 15, 1855 on a farm one mile west of St. Ansgar. He was baptized January 5, 1856 and confirmed April 5, 1869 by Pastor C.L. Clausen. He was united in marriage to Julia Chenous in December, 1877 and settled on a farm near Lakefield, Minn. In 1883 he returned to take charge of the home farm west of town. In 1907, he sold the farm and moved to Wilson, Wis., returning again to St. Ansgar in 1920 where was to spend his remaining days. His wife passed away in 1923. He enjoyed good health all his life and on April 4 he suffered a severe stroke, followed by another a week later and passed away Sunday, April 14, 1940 at 1:25 A.M. at the age of 84 years and 6 months.
Mr. Knudson has been an active and faithful member of the First Lutheran congregation, serving as trustee for many years. He leaves to mourn his departure, his daughter, Annie, one brother, Lewis of St. Ansgar; two sisters, Mrs. Kari Elverum of St. Ansgar and Mrs. Lisa Chenous of Argyle, Wis.

Hans Knudson, 84, one of St. Ansgar's oldest residents, and who was well-known over the county, died Sunday morning following a stroke of paralysis.
Mr. Knudson was born and reared on a farm in the vicinity of his last home, and moved to St. Ansgar sixty-three years ago.
He is survived by one daughter, Anna; a brother, Louis, and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Elverum all of St. Ansgar; and a sister, Mrs. Lisa Chenous of Argyle, Wis.
Funeral service was held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, in charge of the Rev. O.A. Langehough.
