Wilhelmina “Minnie” Arndt Penney, age 93, of Osage, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 833 Ash Street, in Osage with Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery at Little Cedar. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. before services at the church. The family requests that memorials be given to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Minnie was born December 9, 1917, near Riceville, the daughter of Adolph and Mary (Hohn) Arndt. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville.

Minnie was united in marriage to Howard Penney on July 26, 1943, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. While Howard was still in the armed services, Minnie worked at Rath in Waterloo. In 1945, they started farming together near Little Cedar. Minnie was a good wife and partner to Howard. She was also the cook at the Little Cedar Gun Club. Howard and Minnie moved to Osage in 1993. In 2003, she became a resident of the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Minnie is survived by her husband, of 67 years, Howard Penney of Osage; many nieces and nephews.

Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; her four brothers, Arthur, Albert, Walter, and Edward Arndt; her four sisters, Gertrude Rieken, Eda Rieken, Martha Timmermann, and Hedwig Fouts.
