S. W. Hill Dropped
Dead at Travelers
Inn Wednesday MorningSilas W. Hill, for many years prominent in the affairs of Mitchell County, was found dead Wednesday morning in his room at the Travelers Inn, having evidently dropped dead while dressing.
Mr. Hill had come from his home at Ostander, Minnesota, the day before, on on of his occasional business errands to Osage, and had spent the night at the hotel, retiring in seeming good health and sprits.
"Sile" was 80 years old, born in New York State, and came to Mitchell County in his youth with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hill, and spent the balance of his boyhood on the Hill farm northeast of Little Cedar, now occupied by Fred G. Hill.
He attended school some at the old seminary, taught country school, studied dentistry, attaining thus through his own efforts an education and a culture in advance of the level of his time.
In his early manhood he practiced dentistry, then operated a farm in the Mitchell vicinity. Later he moved to Osage and was for many years in the farm implement business, first in partnership with F. P. French, later with A. H. Elver, and with his brother, Link Hill.
After retiring from the implement business, he purchased a farm on the edge of Ostrander, Minnesota, which has been his home since.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Trimble-Hill, two sons and a daughter. The eldest son, Frank, operates the Ostrander farm; the younger one, Lee, lives in St. Paul; the daughter, Mrs. Grace Olson, lives in the Ostrander vicinity.
Besdies the immediate family, two sisters - Mrs. Sara Hockens, Arrington, Kansas, and Mrs. Mary Barker, Long Beach, California, and a brother, Link Hill, of Osage, survive him.
As this is written (Wednesday morning) funeral arrangements are incomplete.
