Raymond Burke, 67,
Prominent Riceville
Resident Succumbs

Raymond Burke, 67 of Riceville, died suddenly at his home April 5, at 7 p.m. He had been in poor health for several months and had been confined to his bed with yellow jaundice since last Thursday.

Mr. Burke was born in Riceville, May 22, 1887, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Burke. He spent his entire life in Riceville.

For the past several years he had operated a produce and produce business east of the Burke hotel. He has also assisted his sister, Mrs. Florence White, postmistress in the local post office.

Mr. Burke is survived by his wife, the former Mayme Tiernan of New Hampton, four children, Patricia, (Mrs. John Neils) of Champaign, Ill.; Edward of Davenport, Ilene (Mrs. Ralph Chappin) of Denver; and Francis Ann (Mrs. Jim Hendricks) of Royal.

Also, surviving are his sisters Mary, Mrs. Florence White and Genevive and a brother Norbert all of Riceville, and Mrs. Catherine Dennis of Minneapolis.

Funeral service was held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Immuclate Conception church with the Rev. Father Arthur Stirn in charge. Burial was in Calvary cemetery.
