'Gene' Owen Died
at Clear Lake;
Ill for Several Months

Frank Eugene Owen, who farmed northwest of Osage until last fall, when he moved to Clear Lake, [Iowa] died at his home last Wednesday, after an illness of nine weeks from lung trouble.

Mr. Owen was born at Castalia, Iowa, in 1869, and was married November 24, 1898. He and his wife settled in Clear Lake in 1908, where the resided until 1913, when they moved to California, where they resided for 15 years.

In 1928 Mr. and Mrs. Owen moved to Osage and resided here until December 31, 1935, when they moved to Clear Lake to be near relatives, as both were in poor health. Mrs. Owen's condition was considered much the more critical of the two, as she has suffered from arthritis for many years. At present she is being cared for by her sister, Mrs. Ella Hartough.

However, as stated above Mr. Owen became sick with an illness of the lungs, which he could not overcome, and passed away January 22 at 3:15 a.m., at the age of 66 years.

Surviving are his widow; three grandchildren, Dorothy, Lynn, and Kenneth Owen, all of Bellflower, California, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Hartough, of Clear Lake.

Their son, Lynn, an airplane pilot, was killed in California several years ago in a crash at the Long Beach Airport. He was up with a student when a fog gathered. The crash resulted from the attempted landing.

Funeral services for Mr. Owen were held Friday afternoon at the residence, with Dr. W. B. Riner officiating, and burial was made in Clear Lake Cemetery.
