JOHNSON, Adeline Beatrice 1906-1916

JOHNSON

Adeline Beatrice Johnson was born August 12, 1906. She was baptized in the Lutheran church the same year. The little girl has been under the doctor's care for the last five years, having once had an attack of rheumatism of the muscles, from which she never entirely recovered. She was taken to the State University Hospital at Iowa City, where they pronounced the trouble tuberculosis of the spine, which caused an abscess to form on her hip. She passed away at five o'clock Thursday afternoon April 27, 1916.

She was an unusually bright little girl, a favorite with her playmates, who mourn her early death. Although being unable to attend school but for a few months, she was fully the equal of other children of her age in her studies.

A very patient sufferer, she never complained of pain, but was ready for either work or play, and enjoyed both to the fullest extent.

She leaves to mourn her loss her mother and father, her sister Mildred, and baby brother Olaf; also a number of relatives and little friends.

Those from afar who were in attendance at the funeral are: Mr. and Mrs. R. Smith of Minneapolis, Mrs. Geo Smith, Rosseau, N. Dak., Mr. and Mrs. L. Lewis and son, Austin, Minn., and Miss O. Savage, Austin, Minn.

Card of Thanks

We wish to hereby express our heartfelt thanks to all those who so kindly aided us during the sickness and after the death of our beloved daughter, also for the many beautiful floral offerings and to the choir.

Mr. and Mrs. Ole Johnson

Item #2

Extremely sad was the death of little Adeline Johnson; her father O.M. Johnson, had just returned from Dubuque where he had been to serve on the U.S. Grand Jury when he received a telephone message from Iowa City that his daughter, who had been taking treatment there had been taken suddenly worse. Mr. Johnson went as soon as possible but she died before he could reach there.
