HOLD FUNERAL MONDAY FOR OSAGE WOMAN 81

Osage – Funeral services for Mrs. Birdie Miller, 81, were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home, with burial in the Osage cemetery. She died Friday in a hospital at Mason City.

Mrs. Miller was the widow of John S. Miller who died in 1928. The couple lived in Osage all their married life with the exception of a short time in Centerville.

Survivors include 4 daughters, Mrs. Ethel Gildner of Mason City; Mrs. Audrey Imhoff, Santa Monica, Cal.; Mrs. R. E. McMahon, Minneapolis; and Mrs. Ardith Williams, Osage; a son, Lynn of Osage; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
There are 5 sisters; Mrs. Silas Kelley, Osage; Mrs. Henry Armstrong; Mrs. Lucy Shellhammer; and Mrs. Bana Kniggee, all of Portland, Oregon; and Mrs. Fred Watson, Calgary, Canada.

Birdie was born February 28, 1870 in Illinois, the daughter of Brinsley Ball and Sarah Jane Richards.

A family tree on Ancestry has her name as: Berdella “Berdie” Ball, and a memorial on Find A Grave has it as Berdie. The Osage Cemetery listing on IAGenWeb has it as Birdie.
