Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 28 at 1:30 p.m., at the Wayne Baptist Church in McIntire for Edna Staley, long time teacher. Reverend John Gilbert officiated with spring interment in the Wayne Cemetery, McIntire. She died December 24 at Bethesda Care Center in Toledo.
Edna Irene Staley, the daughter of George and Lucy Jennison Errington, was born on January 23, 1894 in Howard County. She was baptized in the Wayne Baptist Church in McIntire on July 2, 1924. She graduated from the McIntire High School in 1913 and Upper Iowa University in Fayette.
On August 14, 1914 she was united in marriage to Peter F. Staley. She taught school for 39 years and was a tutor in her home for nine years and after her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Gladys Stewart; one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Kathryn) Manweller of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Clinton (Mary) Eastman of McIntire and Mrs. Harold (Gretta) Fisher of Chelsea; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
