Funeral services
held Friday for
William Virchow

Funeral services for William E. Virchow, 69, were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with military honors conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Burial was at 2:15 p.m., in Osage Cemetery, Osage, with graveside military rites conducted by Osage American Legion Post 278.

Mr. Virchow died Wednesday, September 10, 1997, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa, of encephalitis.

He was born December 24, 1927, in Osage, the son of William Charles and Emma Brown Virchow. He married Jeanita Baker on May 21, 1950, in Osage.

Mr. Virchow served with the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II. He was a scale technician with Toledo Scale Company in Des Moines for a number of years.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanita; two daughters, Vicki Jean Bicket of Reinbeck and Darlene Ann Canfield of Cedar Falls; and two grandchildren.
