Helene E. Johnson, 88, of St. Ansgar, one-time resident of Mason City, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at the First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating. Burial will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Helene E. Johnson was born October 25, 1919, to Marion and Cecelia Hansen Jensen in Mitchell County. She lived in the St. Ansgar area and married Selmer Johnson in 1954. Helene worked at Good Samaritan Center as Head Cook.

She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling and cooking. She moved to the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar in May 2004, and appreciated the excellent care she received.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Selmer; brothers, Orlo, Merle and Harold; sisters, Edna Beureman and Maurine Moore.

Helene is survived by her two daughters, Betty Snook of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Norma Johnson of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Kristi (Rick) Kleinschmidt, of Plainfield, Kirt (Amy) Snook, of Mason City, and Kelli Slaughter of Colorado Springs, Colo.; eight great-grandchildren, J.J. Hulsing, Alex Hulsing, Erica Hulsing, Amber Snook, Sara Snook, A.J. Snook, Brett Slaughter and Dalton Slaughter; two brothers, Art Jensen, of Osage and Clarence Jensen of Brainard, Minn.
