VALENTINE BROWN DIES FOLLOWING AN OPERATIONStacyville – Valentine Brown, 65, died at Mercy Hospital, Mason City, Saturday. He had been ill several months and submitted to a major operation a week ago.
Valentine Brown was born at Johnsburg, Minnesota, March 25, 1878, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Brown, pioneer settlers of this community.
He first farmed the Asa Stacy farm east of the Little Cedar River. He married Ida Smith of Johnsburg on November 19, 1900. He was a member of St. Joseph’s society of Visitation Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ida and 6 children, Carl and Mrs. Roy Wageman of Stacyville; Mrs. Paul Keitjes of Lincoln, Nebraska; Erma, Mrs. Kenneth Olsen of Wahoo, Nebraska; Mrs. Gus Reid of Chicago; and Pvt. Walter Brown of Fort Riley, Kansas.
He also leaves 4 brothers, Henry of Minneapolis; Barney of Johnsburg; Frank of Plainfield, Wisconsin; and John of Stacyville.
