For the past couple of years his health had been failing and after a serious illnes of several weeks, passed away at his home January 31, 1939.

He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Thelma, now Mrs. Clinton Penney; and Myra, now Mrs. Oscar Johnson. Five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three sisters; Mrs. Julia Morrissey, Waterloo; Mrs. Minnie DeLaney and Mrs. Emma Emerson, Little Cedar.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Mrs. Helen Decker and brother, J. W. McPhail.
