CRASH IS FATAL TO OSAGE MAN
J. A. ROGERS IS VICTIM

Osage – J. A. Bert Rogers, 77, a retired Osage farmer, was killed instantly Friday evening in a car-pickup collision on Highway 9 two miles west of here. He was thrown to the pavement.

Rogers was alone in his pickup which was struck from the rear by a car driven by Dale Squier, 27, of near Orchard. Squier, who also was alone, is hospitalized at Mitchell Memorial Hospital here. He is suffering from shock, has a possible concussion and abdominal injuries.

UNABLE TO STOP
Sheriff Harry Horn, said Rogers apparently slowed down quickly to make a turn and Squier was unable to stop in time. Further details of the accident were unavailable, he said, because Squier was semi-conscious.
The pickup, which overturned, was a total loss, the sheriff said. The car was damaged to the extent of $250.

Funeral services for Rogers will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church here with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
