CRASH IS FATAL TO OSAGE MAN
J. A. ROGERS IS VICTIMOsage – J. A. Bert Rogers, 77, a retired Osage farmer, was killed instantly Friday evening in a car-pickup collision on Highway 9 two miles west of here. He was thrown to the pavement.
Rogers was alone in his pickup which was struck from the rear by a car driven by Dale Squier, 27, of near Orchard. Squier, who also was alone, is hospitalized at Mitchell Memorial Hospital here. He is suffering from shock, has a possible concussion and abdominal injuries.
UNABLE TO STOP
Sheriff Harry Horn, said Rogers apparently slowed down quickly to make a turn and Squier was unable to stop in time. Further details of the accident were unavailable, he said, because Squier was semi-conscious.
The pickup, which overturned, was a total loss, the sheriff said. The car was damaged to the extent of $250.Funeral services for Rogers will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church here with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
HIS SURVIVORS
Survivors include his wife, the former Minnie Smith, whom he married in 1903; two sons, Bernard and John, both of Osage; three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Erna) Schultheis, Osage; Mrs. Robert (Frances) Kleckner, St. Ansgar; and Mrs. Lois (Ramona) Howe, Butte, Montana; 26 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one sister; Agnes Lewis, Tuttle, N. D.
