MAN CRUSHED TO DEATH BY HORSE
FARMER NEAR RICEVILLE IS FOUND DEAD IN BARN; FUNERAL SUNDAYOsage, Jan, 10 – William Minnis, 82, who lives on a farm near Riceville, was killed early Thursday morning as a result of being crushed by a horse. He was found in a stall in the barn by his son, Hugh, and his chest was badly injured.
Mr. Minnis, his son and the hired man had gone to the barn to do the chores. Mr. Minnis was left alone in one of the stalls and when his son heard a groan, he rushed to him. The injured man was carried to the house, but only lived a short time.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon in the Congregational church at Riceville.
The victim of the accident is survived by four sons, James, Ray, Arthur and Hugh. Mr. Minnis came to Riceville many years ago from Salin, Wisconsin.
