OBITUARY

Bruggemann

Elizabeth Bruggeman, nee Perau, was born in Germany, February 27, 1853. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church on April 14, 1867. In the same year she came to America with her parents, taking up residence at Reedsburg, Wisconsin.

She was married to Frederick Bruggeman at West Field, Wisconsin, January 2, 1872. To this union twelve children were born of whom two, Elizabeth and Alice, preceded their mother in death. Her husband died February 15, 1901.

She spent about five years in Wisconsin. In 1872 she came with her husband to Iowa and settled on a farm in Union township, Mitchell county, a half mile north of Toeterville, where she has resided for 66 years, and where she passed away. For many years Mrs. Bruggeman was a faithful member of the St. Paul Lutheran church at Toeterville: also a charter member of the Ladies' Aid. She took a lively interest in her church activities.

She passed away Thursday evening, May 26, 1938, at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 29 days.

She is survived by ten children: Herman, Sherburn, Minn.; Mrs. W. Hoverman, Osceloa, Wis.; Mrs. A. Brandt, St. Ansgar, Albert, of Union township; Fred, Toeterville; Mrs. Sam Ehlke, Lyle; William of Union; Martha, Edward and George at home; also thirty-four grandchildren, and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at the St. Peter's church Sunday with the Rev. C. Bosholm in charge and interment was in the Toeterville cemetery.
