MURRAY C. DUCK
OSAGE, IOWA - Murray C. Duck, 81, of Osage, died Monday, August 28, 2000, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, of natural causes.
Murray was born on October 19, 1918, at Longford, Kansas, the son of Linford and Bessie (Youse) Duck. Murray was raised in Kansas, where he attended school. He graduated from Longford High School in 1936.
He was united in marriage to Helen Mae Lee at the Little Brown Church in Nashau, on Feb. 14, 1941. They lived in Kansas for 18 months before moving back to Iowa in December of 1942. They farmed in the Osage area until 1983, when they retired and moved to Osage.
Murray was a member of the Osage Senior Citizen's Center, where he was president for four years. He was also an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, serving on many different church boards, and many other boards of Mitchell County organizations.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 833 Ash St. in Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott, officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Mae Duck, of Osage; one daughter, Jana D. Duck, of Clear Lake; two sons, Miles M. Duck and his wife, Cheryl, of Mason City, and Melvin L. Duck, of Silverton, Oregon; one sister, Ruth Dechant and her husband, Gene, of Wichita, Kansas; three grandchildren, Angela Overcast and her husband, Allan, and their children, Anna and Anthony, of Billings, Mont., Laura Duck, of Ames, and Kendal Duck, of Mason City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and five sisters.
