Mrs. Maren Arno, 86, of the Rock Creek community, died Thursday evening, March 8, 1951, at the Carl Nelson farm home southwest of Osage. Funeral rites will be Monday at 1 pm at the Champion Funeral Home and at 2 pm at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Maren Andrine Larsen was born September 10, 1864 at Sorum, Hedmark, Norway to Lars Pedersen and Karen Amundsdatter Merlie. She was married in Norway to Lars Sorenson. Her husband died and she and her 4-year-old son, Louis, came to Osage where she was housekeeper for her brother, Lars Sorlie. She was married to Ole Arno in 1895 and the couple spent their married life on a farm west of Osage with the exception of seven years in Osage.
Survivors include two sons: Louis, Superior, Wisconsin, Knut of Osage; and one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Clara) Nelson of Osage. Also surviving are three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Ole in 1931; a son, Martin; five brothers; and two sisters.
She was the last surviving member of a family of eight.
